Ph.D. Candidate

Education

Masters of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a focus in Tissue Engineering, Islamic Azad University, Tehran, Iran, 2021

Bachelors of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Semnan University, Iran, 2018

Background

Ms. Baninoe received her M.S. degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a focus on Tissue Engineering from Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch in Tehran, Iran, in 2021. She joined the Nanobioscience Ph.D. Program at the University at Albany in 2023 and is currently conducting interdisciplinary research under the mentorship of Professors Susan Sharfstein and Yubing Xie. Her research focuses on biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and cell-based therapies, with an emphasis on developing advanced scaffold systems for tissue repair and regeneration.

In Dr. Sharfstein’s lab, Ms. Baninoe works on engineering biomaterial platforms and 3D cell culture systems to improve cell survival, functionality, and therapeutic potential. Her current research includes the development of cryoelectrospun scaffolds and biomaterial-based approaches for regenerative medicine applications, as well as studying cell–material interactions and antifibrotic strategies relevant to salivary gland tissue repair. She also collaborates on projects involving translational biomaterials and bioprocessing technologies aimed at improving cell culture and therapeutic delivery systems.
