Postdoctoral Fellow

Education

Masters of Science, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran

Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnology, Pasteur Institue of Iran, Tehran, Iran

Background

Setareh is a postdoctoral researcher at the College of Nanotechnology, Science & Engineering at the University at Albany. She earned her Ph.D. in Medical Biotechnology from the Pasteur Institute of Iran. Her expertise lies in cell line development, with a particular focus on CHO cell line engineering.

During her Ph.D., she employed targeted integration methods such as CRISPR/Cas9 and RMCE to enhance CHO cell growth rate and productivity. Previously, during her M.Sc. at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, she gained experience in stabilizing mRNA molecules for gene therapy applications.

Currently, she leads two independent research collaborations with DeepSeq.AI and CodoMax. The CodoMax project focuses on investigating protein expression and tRNA pool modulation under cellular stress in CHO cells, as well as optimizing codon strategies in transcription factors to enhance antibody productivity. The DeepSeq.AIproject leverages machine learning to select antibody sequences for improved manufacturability, validating their expression potential in CHO cells through transfection and screening.
